About

I’m a kid in her twenties, living in Washington, D.C., enjoying the serendipitous parts of life, with a lot less time on my hands than I did a few short months ago. I don’t want this to be the kind of vanity project that a blog can so easily become, but I think I might have some things to say that are worth hearing.

Like everyone else in D.C., I come from elsewhere- in my case, South Florida. The land of blue haired ladies and citrus groves and beautiful beaches sounds like paradise but is more of a personal hell. I grew up poor, the oldest kiddo of a momma who worked too many jobs to feed us and pay rent in the good school districts. Between watching her struggle, passing four years in women’s college paradise, and my status as a big gay, it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’m outspokenly liberal. Then again, I identify more with Eleanor Roosevelt’s politics than Nancy Pelosi’s.

When I grow up I want to be a socially well-adjusted cat lady, work in government and/or the non-profit sector, be an inspiring leader, and have a sunny kitchen and a porch swing. Recently, I’ve taken another few baby steps on the path to becoming a real adult, but I’m not there yet. As I continue on the way, I’ll be writing as often as I can about geekdom, politics, feminism, books, citrus fruits, feminism, pop culture, and other bits and bats.
